Objects

Conceptionally spoken, Objects fill a Layer with image content. Most Objects will generate a kind of mask for this, which is applied in a certain Mode over already rendered Objects. The mask is a simple opacity channel, that defines for every pixel of the Object, with what opacity level that pixel is to be influenced.

Object mask and fill mode

There are different types of Objects, mainly distinguished by how they generate their opacity mask. Most types have several Properties, which influence the generation of the mask.

To create an Object of the desired type, the appropriate Tool has to be activated. For every tool, WonderBrush displays controls which define the Properties of a new Object. An Object is created by simply clicking into the image area and possibly dragging with the mouse or pen. Some tools, especially the Shape tool, offer sophisticated editing options. Filter Objects take a special role, because they are only created by choosing from the Filter menu. Bitmap Objects are likewise not created by a tool, but represent loaded image data or have been generated as a consequence of choosing Object->All->Freeze. Every new Object starts life at the top position of the active Layer (last position in the list). By simple Drag & Drop they can be put to another position in the list. Objects can be duplicated by holding down the Shift key while doing this. Some types of Objects, like Shape and Text Objects, can be edited again by the respective tool, via double clicking on the Object in the list. Other Objects, like Brush or Filter Objects, can only be adjusted by editing their list of Properties.
